International schools in Bangkok
Bangkok has one of the largest international school markets in Southeast Asia, built over decades on diplomatic, corporate and long-term expat demand. Our directory holds 109 campuses inside the city. That count is of campuses, not of school groups, so a school that runs its early-years site on a separate address appears as two entries. It also stops at the provincial boundary: a number of well-known campuses sit in Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani or Samut Prakan and market themselves as Bangkok schools, and those are listed under their own province rather than here.
How this list is ordered
The list above is ordered by how many public reviews each listing carries. On most of our category pages that produces something close to a popularity ranking. Here it does not: only 11 of the 109 campuses carry a public rating at all, and the largest review count on the page is 84. Schools are researched through admissions visits and parent networks, not through review platforms, so read this page as a complete map of what exists and where, not as a league table.
Where they cluster
Watthana district holds 25 campuses, more than any other district and close to a quarter of the total. That is the Sukhumvit corridor between Asok and Ekkamai, which is also where the highest concentration of long-stay foreign residents lives. After Watthana the numbers fall off fast: Khlong Toei has 7, and Bang Na, Bang Kapi and Huai Khwang have 5 each.
The pattern breaks at the edges. A number of campuses sit well outside the centre, where there is room for playing fields: Bang Na toward the eastern expressway, Min Buri and Lat Krabang further east, Bang Khun Thian and Thawi Watthana across the river. More sit beyond the city boundary again, in Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan, and those are outside this page. Commute time, not distance, is the number that matters, and for an outer campus it usually means a school bus contract rather than a drive.
What is on a listing and what is not
Each listing carries the campus location, district, contact details and opening hours where we have them. 106 of the 109 have a website on file and 108 have a phone number, which is normally enough to reach an admissions office directly.
What we do not hold is the information that decides the choice: curriculum, examination board, accreditation, class sizes, term dates and fees. None of that is in our data and we do not estimate it. Get it from the school.
What to check before you shortlist
- Curriculum and exit qualification. British, American, IB and Thai-international programmes lead to different exams and different university pathways. Decide this before you compare campuses.
- Accreditation. Ask which bodies accredit the school and when it was last reviewed. Accreditation is verifiable and worth verifying.
- Age range at that address. Some entries here are early-years or primary sites of a larger group. Confirm the campus you are visiting covers the years you need, not just the years the group offers.
- The actual commute. Do the trip at the real hour, or ask which routes the school bus serves. In Bangkok this decides more day-to-day quality of life than most of the brochure.
Ratings and review counts on each listing come from public listing data and reflect what visitors reported. We do not verify or adjust them.
Frequently asked questions
How many international schools are there in Bangkok?
Our directory lists 109 international school campuses inside Bangkok. That figure counts campuses rather than school groups, so a school running a separate early-years site appears twice. Campuses in the surrounding provinces are not counted, even where they trade under a Bangkok name.
Which areas of Bangkok have the most international schools?
Watthana district holds 25 of them, more than any other district and close to a quarter of the total. After that the count drops sharply: Khlong Toei has 7, and Bang Na, Bang Kapi and Huai Khwang have 5 each. The rest are spread thin across Yan Nawa, Suan Luang, Wang Thonglang, Phra Khanong, Saphan Sung, Prawet, Min Buri and Bang Khun Thian.
Why do so few schools on this page have a rating?
Schools attract far fewer public reviews than restaurants or gyms, and parents tend not to leave them. Only 11 of the 109 campuses here carry a public rating at all, and the busiest of those has 84 reviews. Treat the ratings on this page as incidental, not as a ranking of the schools.
Do international schools in Bangkok take younger children?
Many do. Alongside the main campuses our data includes pre-schools, kindergartens, a Montessori site and a nursery operating under an international school name, so the same page covers early years and K-12.
Does this page show fees, curriculum, or accreditation?
No. Our listings carry location, district, contact details and opening hours, and 106 of the 109 have a website on file. Curriculum, accreditation body, term dates and fees are not in our data. Take those from the school directly.
