Esplanade Cineplex Ngamwongwan – Khae Rai
37, 39 Rattanathibet Rd, Tambon Bang Kraso, Mueang Nonthaburi District, Nonthaburi 11000
Esplanade Cineplex Ngamwongwan delivers a proper large-format cinema experience on the Purple Line corridor, anchored by the IMAX with Laser screen that converted to the upgraded GLS Giant Laser Screen format in late 2023. The overall complex adds bowling, ice skating, and karaoke alongside the multiplex, which makes it worth the trip for an extended evening out rather than just a single screening.
Esplanade Cineplex Ngamwongwan, operated by Major Cineplex Group, opened in December 2009 as the centrepiece entertainment offering of Esplanade Ngamwongwan shopping mall on Rattanathibet Road in Bang Kraso, Mueang Nonthaburi. The multiplex has grown into the primary cinema destination for Nonthaburi province and the northern Bangkok suburbs it borders.
The cinema runs 16 screens with a combined 4,062 seats, ranging from standard and VIP auditoriums through to the flagship large-format hall. Screen 10 is the prestige auditorium: in November 2023 it was upgraded to become one of Thailand's IMAX with Laser locations, part of Major Cineplex Group's expanded IMAX with Laser partnership announced that year. The screen measures 20 by 10.5 metres and uses IMAX Laser XT projection delivering 4K clarity across a 12-channel sound system. VIP screens feature laser projection paired with Dolby Surround 7.1 audio and premium seating.
The multiplex is supported by a full food and beverage zone in the mall, with the standard Major Cineplex concession offering alongside the wider Esplanade Ngamwongwan dining options.
Beyond cinema, the Esplanade Ngamwongwan complex offers bowling lanes, an ice skating rink, and karaoke facilities, making it a complete leisure destination for families and groups.
The nearest rail access is via the MRT Purple Line and MRT Pink Line, both serving Nonthaburi Civic Center station (PP11 / PK01), from which the cinema is reachable on foot or by short taxi ride. Rattanathibet Road has direct bus connections into central Bangkok, and parking at the complex is available for visitors arriving by car. The location serves a dense residential corridor stretching through Nonthaburi and northern Bangkok districts including Bang Bua Thong, Pak Kret, and Bang Yai.
