King Power
222 Vibhavadi Rangsit Rd, Sanam Bin, Don Mueang, Bangkok 10210
The CARAT rewards program makes sense if you transit through Bangkok regularly, and 0% installment payment softens the sting of last-minute purchases. Stick to liquor and cosmetics where the duty-free spread is widest. Departures-only since August 2024, so arriving passengers walk straight past.
You walk off the boarding gate corridor and the duty-free aisles open in front of you. Perfume, skincare, and liquor dominate the floor, with watch and sunglasses cases along the perimeter. King Power won the sole concession to operate duty-free at Don Mueang back in 1995, and the current contract runs through March 2033. The product mix covers Chanel, Giorgio Armani, Diptyque candles, Daniel Wellington watches, and TUMI luggage, plus a Thai spirits section for last-minute gifts.
The CARAT rewards program earns points on every purchase, and 0% installment payment is available if you are splitting a bigger spend across months. Orders placed through the King Power app can be collected airside, which skips the browse-and-queue routine most travelers default to. The brand selection mirrors what you find at Suvarnabhumi, though the Don Mueang footprint is smaller.
King Power started in 1989 as Thailand's first downtown duty-free operator, granted by the Thai government to open a retail model that had not existed in the country before. The company received a royal warrant from King Bhumibol in 2009. Founder Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha built the business into the largest duty-free retailer in Thailand before his death in 2018, and the family-run operation now spans nine Thai airports plus downtown Bangkok locations.
Inbound duty-free closed across all Thai airports in August 2024. Only departing passengers can shop. If you are arriving into Don Mueang, the King Power aisles are roped off and you walk straight to immigration.
