The Ministry of Labour building on Mitmaitri Road in Din Daeng houses the Office of Foreign Workers Administration on the 2nd floor - the key submission point for work permit applications and renewals for foreign employees at Bangkok-based companies without BOI promotional status.
This office handles Form WP.1 (new work permit applications for employees who have never held a Thai work permit, or whose permit has expired) and Form WP.3 (applications submitted by employers for incoming foreign employees before they arrive in Thailand). Renewals are managed on an annual basis, aligned with the permit's expiry date.
Processing time for Bangkok work permits is approximately seven working days from accepted submission. The employer submits the application - not the individual employee - so coordinate with your HR or company representative before visiting.
Standard documentation includes company documentation (business registration, BOJ 5 shareholder list), employee documents (passport, current visa, educational qualifications), and employment documentation (contract, job description, salary evidence). The Thai-to-foreign employee ratio must meet the legal requirement, generally four Thai employees per foreign worker, with sector-based exceptions.
The Din Daeng location is accessible from Phra Ram 9 MRT or Asoke BTS, with a 10 to 15 minute taxi ride from either. Note: employees at BOI-promoted companies process work permits through the BOI One Stop Service Center, not this office.
