Order the fried curry crab first. That dish built the reputation over half a century and it still anchors the menu. You step off the escalator onto Level 4 of Siam Square One and the seafood house opens in front of you. Table seating runs through the space, the kitchen sends out curry crab and roasted prawns, and the room fills with groups and families most nights.

The fried curry crab is the dish that built Somboon Seafood over half a century. Fresh crab, fragrant curry sauce, scallions, cayenne pepper. The recipe is exclusive to the restaurant since 1969. The curry powder formula stays proprietary and the crab arrives at the table in the same preparation across all eight Bangkok branches.

The roasted fresh water prawns with glass noodle come seasoned and roasted in a hot pot. The deep-fried seabass arrives golden outside, tender inside, paired with sweet fish sauce. Both hold Michelin recognition. The restaurant has appeared in Thailand's Michelin Guide continuously since 2018.

Somboon Seafood operates eight locations across Bangkok, including the flagship Surawong branch and newer locations at Central Embassy and CentralWorld. The Surawong branch is the original, seating over 200 guests, and it remains the anchor of the family-run operation passed down through generations. The Siam Square One location brings the same menu and the same curry crab formula to the middle of the shopping district, accessible via BTS Siam. Reservations go through TableCheck and the restaurant accepts walk-ins, but lunch and dinner slots usually fill and the room runs with a wait during peak hours.
