Terminal 21 Rama 3 takes the beloved travel-themed concept from Asok and scales it up for the riverside south. The Caribbean-to-San Francisco floor progression is more elaborate than its predecessor, the food court is genuinely outstanding value, and the Chao Phraya River location gives it a geographic identity the original Asok branch lacks. Worth the trek from Surasak BTS, especially on a weekday when the crowds are manageable.
Terminal 21 Rama 3 opened in October 2022 on Rama III Road in Bangkok's Bang Kho Laem district, delivering a shopping mall with a personality loud enough to match its 140,000-square-metre footprint. The riverside setting near the Chao Phraya places it in the same southside corridor as Asiatique, giving this stretch of Bangkok a new anchor for an evening out.
The building's nine floors each carry a distinct international city theme. Start underground in the Caribbean Village, move through English Village at ground level, then climb through Rome, Paris, and Tokyo before reaching the Hollywood floors where SF Cinema operates screens including Sony 4K digital and IMAX. The theatrical detailing extends to the bathrooms, which have become something of an Instagram fixture in their own right.
At the top, the San Francisco-themed Pier 21 Food Court recreates the bay area with model seals, tram decor, and nautical touches framing rows of local and Thai dishes at prices that hold steady around 30 to 60 baht per plate. This is widely considered one of the best-value food courts across all of Bangkok, and the theming makes it more enjoyable than the typical basement food hall experience.
The tenant mix targets mid-market shoppers with over 300 stores covering fashion, health and beauty, electronics, and lifestyle. Tops supermarket handles grocery needs, Let's Relax spa occupies level four, and The Fitness Platinum gym rounds out the wellness offer. The parking lot fits 1,658 vehicles, which matters on the south side of Bangkok where car access is common.
Getting here from central Bangkok takes a bit of planning. The free shuttle bus departs from BTS Surasak station on the Silom Line. Alternatively, water taxis call at Wat Rajsingkorn pier via the Orange Line express boat, and bus routes 22, 35, 59, and 205 service Rama III Road directly. Once you arrive at the iconic clock tower entrance facing the Chao Phraya River, the effort feels entirely worth it.
