The architecture is the other half of the visit. Teakwood this well preserved is rare in central Bangkok, and the fretwork alone justifies the trip.

The Giant Swing sits at one end of Dinso Road. The Gingerbread House sits about 50 meters down, inside a two-story teakwood building from the Rama VI period. You step off the street into a front room filled with vintage cabinets, old photographs on the walls, mismatched antique chairs, and original fretwork running along every window frame. The shutters still work. The menu splits between traditional Thai desserts and coffee drinks. An iced mint macchiato runs B95. Lotus leaf ice cream with coconut milk is B120. The Lotus Set, priced at B599, brings eight Thai desserts with two ice cream scoops and hot tea to your table. The upstairs level holds additional seating where tables sit close together and wooden floors creak under foot traffic.

Natural light filters through the fretwork during the day. The room stays cool without feeling sterile, and the mix of vintage furniture gives each corner a different texture. Reservations are accepted by phone, though walk-ins usually find a table during weekday afternoons. The quiet atmosphere and historic setting draw a mix of tourists and local groups.

The venue has no wheelchair-accessible entrance or seating. If you need step-free access, this won't work. Hours run 11AM to 7PM weekdays, 10AM to 7PM weekends.

The location is walkable from Phra Athit Pier or accessible by taxi to the Giant Swing. Most visitors combine the dessert stop with a morning or early afternoon walk through the Old Town temple circuit, starting or ending at the landmark.
