Editorial Standards - How BangkokGotMe Writes and Verifies Venue Content

Our methodology for researching venues, writing descriptions, handling AI-assisted content, and disclosing AI-generated placeholder images. Transparency over hype.

How we research, write, verify and update venue content on BangkokGotMe. Last reviewed: May 2026.

1. What we publish, and what we will not

We publish a full description only when we have at least three independent anchors of fact about a venue: a specific dish or service, a concrete atmosphere detail, a named person or design feature, or a unique operational fact. Venues without three solid anchors get a minimal placeholder hook and go to manual review. We would rather list fewer venues well than many venues badly.

2. How descriptions are written

Each description combines structured business data from public sources with web research across the venue's own site, local press and independent reviews. Every specific claim traces back to an anchor source. Drafts are then scored against eight dimensions - hallucination safety, sensory specificity, voice consistency, anti-filler discipline, sub-type accuracy, reader utility and honest flagging - and only descriptions that clear the bar are published. We do not write "hidden gem", "must-visit" or "world-class", because those phrases carry no information.

3. AI-generated placeholder images

Many venue cards carry an AI-generated placeholder image with a visible disclosure badge. Cached third-party platform photos cannot be served outside their original API context, and most venues have no verified owner yet who could upload originals. These placeholders are category-thematic, not venue-specific: they show the kind of space a venue typically is, never the actual interior. When a verified owner claims a listing and uploads real photographs, the placeholder and its disclosure are removed.

4. Updates and accuracy

Every detail page shows a "Last updated" date. Listings are re-researched on a rolling schedule and corrected when hours, branches, prices or dish names change, or when an owner reports an error. Corrections go to contact@bangkokgotme.com with the venue name. We do not delete or reword listings on commercial request, but we fix verifiable errors quickly.

5. What we do not do

  • We do not publish negative or defamatory commentary about any venue, in line with Thai defamation law.
  • We do not accept payment in exchange for favourable descriptions or rankings. Paid placements, when they exist, are disclosed on the venue card.
  • We do not invent specifics. A dish, designer, year, floor number or price that is not verifiable from a source does not appear.
  • We do not name competing businesses negatively or by comparison.

6. Contact and corrections
