Order the Creamy if you want the chocolate to do the talking; the Mild reads more like a soft cacao tea. Come on a weekday morning when Talat Noi is still waking up, because the room only seats a handful and the soi narrows fast once the photo crowd arrives. Worth the detour from Yaowarat.

You step off Soi Wanit 2 into a room the size of a small living room, and the first thing you see is the chocolate counter. Nine Thai-origin bars sit out for tasting. You pick before you order, which is the whole point of the place.

The drink list is built around two recipes. The Mild uses 32 grams of chocolate per cup. The Creamy uses 40. That single decision sets the tone of the visit, and the staff will let you sample the bars first so you are not guessing.

32Bar X works because it commits to one thing. The shophouse it occupies is roughly 200 years old, restored rather than gutted, with the vintage car parked out front that has become the landmark people use to find the door. Talat Noi is full of cafes built for a camera. This one is built for the chocolate.

The room is small enough that two parties can fill it, and the soi is foot-traffic only. Come on a weekday before noon if you want a seat without queuing. Walking in from Yaowarat takes about ten minutes through some of the most photogenic alleys in Bangkok, so plan the visit as a Talat Noi loop rather than a single stop.

Open daily 10:40 to 19:00. Cash and the usual scan-to-pay options work at the counter. Bring a friend who is curious about cacao and order one Mild and one Creamy so you can taste both in the same sitting.
