Tai Soon Bar comes alive on weekday evenings when the 18 rotating taps are cycling through seasonal selections. The concept was inspired by the historical story of the Pratu-Phee or Ghost Door location and the charm of the abandoned Chinese drugstore. Worth ordering the Char Siu alongside a Yuzu Honey Mead or Coco Fresh Sour from the seasonal tap list. Cocktails start at around 150 baht.

You reach Tai Soon Bar at 190 Maha Chai Road in Samran Rat, Phra Nakhon, the Old Town district of Bangkok that holds some of the city's oldest surviving shophouse architecture. The building you enter has stood for over a century, operating as a Chinese drugstore for most of that time before the Taste Space design studio converted it into a bar in 2019.

The renovation followed a concept of contrast, twist, and heritage. The original building structure and facade were left in place, including the worn surfaces and layered history visible in the walls and ceiling. Against that backdrop, Taste Space introduced red neon light logos and Chinese-inspired lighting installations. The most striking interior feature is the bar counter itself, which was built to replicate the form and material logic of an antique Chinese drug cabinet, directly referencing the furniture of the original drugstore.

The bar's name and concept draw from a local historical story. The Maha Chai Road location carries the name Pratu-Phee, translated as Ghost Door, a designation tied to the area's history and the atmosphere of the old abandoned buildings along this stretch of the road.

The drinks programme runs on 18 rotating taps with a seasonal rotation that has included options such as Yuzu Honey Mead and Coco Fresh Sour. The full selection reaches over 100 beers, covering local Thai craft producers alongside international selections from the United States and Australia. Cocktails are available from around 150 baht.

Food at Tai Soon Bar centres on Char Siu, the Cantonese barbecued pork preparation that pairs directly with the bar's Chinese heritage theme and complements both the craft beers and the cocktail list. The bar is located in Phra Nakhon, the Old Town district that sits near Rattanakosin Island, making it a natural stop for visitors exploring the historic core of Bangkok.
