The British Embassy on Wireless Road is the UK's diplomatic presence in Thailand. For British nationals in Thailand, it functions as the primary contact point for consular services, emergency assistance, and official documentation needs - but not for UK immigration applications.
Services available to British nationals include British passport renewal and replacement (applying in person by appointment, with processing through the UK Passport Service), marriage affirmations (the official declaration required before a UK national can marry in Thailand), birth registrations for children of UK citizens born in Thailand, death registrations, and certified true copy services for documents.
Emergency consular assistance for lost passports, arrest, hospital emergencies, and death notifications is available 24 hours via the main consulate number.
Consular appointment hours are Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30 to 11:00 AM and 1:00 to 3:00 PM. All visits are appointment-only; walk-ins are not served.
An important distinction: the British Embassy does not process UK visa applications. Thai nationals and others applying for UK visas - visit visas, spouse visas, settlement visas - must apply through VFS Global at Belle Grand Rama 9 on Rama 9 Road. The embassy and VFS operate entirely separately.
The Wireless Road location is accessible from Ploenchit BTS (10-minute walk) and is in the same corridor as the US Embassy. Security screening and bag checks are standard at entry.
