Kodtalay The Riverfront Seafood Buffet
11, 3 Charoen Krung 58 Alley, Yan Nawa, Sathon, Bangkok 10120
Lead with the live tank. Pick your giant river prawns, hand them to the grill station, and eat them with the river five metres away. This is the original Kodtalay, the one on the water, and the view alone sets it apart from the Sukhumvit branch. Come at 2 PM on a weekend rather than 7.
The charcoal smoke hits before you reach the entrance. Dozens of table grills working at once create a low haze across the dining floor, and the Chao Phraya sits right beyond the seating, close enough that the river breeze occasionally clears the air above you. The room runs loud and lively throughout service.
The format is straightforward: you pay 599 THB per person, then work your way through a buffet that covers live seafood, Thai dishes, Japanese sashimi and teppanyaki, BBQ meats, dim sum, and desserts. The live section is the reason the venue holds 42,023 Google ratings at 4.9. Giant river prawns, sea crabs, blue crabs, mantis shrimp, oysters, and squid sit in tanks and ice beds along the main counter. You pick what you want, hand it to the grill team, and it comes back to your table cooked. The oysters arrive with a Thai spicy seafood sauce and fried shallots.
Seating is spread across more than 100 tables, most with a direct or angled view toward the water. The evenings fill fast; weekends hit capacity by early evening and the popular items at the live counter run low if you arrive after dark. Saturday and Sunday doors open at 3 PM. Arrive then and you get the full selection, a cooler table, and a river that catches the last of the afternoon light before the night market crowd settles in.
The nearest BTS is Saphan Taksin, exit 4, a short walk or motorcycle taxi ride to Charoen Krung 58. Parking is limited at the venue itself; the side streets near Charoen Krung 52 are the better option if you drive. Reservations open via the Facebook page and are confirmed through Line, which matters on Friday and Saturday when walk-ins queue outside.
