Natura Café
9 Chom Thong Rd, Khwaeng Chom Thong, Chom Thong, Bangkok 10150
Natura Cafe is built for anyone who wants a few hours of canal-side quiet without leaving the city. The venue sits within Poomjai Garden, a living 100-year-old lychee orchard, and the design uses bamboo beams and ceramic tiles throughout to match the natural surroundings. Order the Lychee Americano made with Thai single-origin beans and lychee juice, and the Talingping Cheesecake, a signature that uses talingpling fruit marinated in mirin with American cream cheese.
You cross a wooden bridge over a mossy pond and pass through a bamboo entrance framed by native Thai fruit trees before you reach Natura Cafe, the cafe at Poomjai Garden, which the garden's owners describe as Bangkok's last remaining 100-year-old lychee orchard. The garden and cafe were developed by a second-generation heir who wanted to preserve the inherited land and share it with the city. The architectural concept uses bamboo almost exclusively for structure and furniture, a deliberate reference to traditional Thai building knowledge. Two main zones split the experience: the open-air canal-side sala, a traditional Thai palapa with low tables and cushion seating directly on the bank of the Bangkhuntien canal, and a more enclosed restaurant section for guests who want shade and greater privacy among the trees. The menu grows part of what it serves. The Pakood Salad (Fern Salad, THB 150) uses warabi fern cultivated in the garden's own plots, tossed in the house dressing and served alongside grilled pork. The Massaman curry (THB 240) is made with fresh curry paste prepared daily and simmered with fresh coconut milk. For the Talingping Cheesecake (THB 140), the house signature, talingpling fruit is marinated in mirin before being paired with American cream cheese, producing something distinctly local and distinctly tropical. The Lychee Americano (THB 130) uses Thai single-origin coffee beans with fresh lychee juice, a direct nod to the orchard's identity. Other menu items include Pad Thai at THB 129, Fried Pork Basil at THB 109, Butterfly Yuzu drinks at THB 140, and Golden Thai Tea at THB 120. The cafe is open daily 10am to 6pm, is pet-friendly, and uses recyclable materials for straws and cup holders. For guests who want more of the grounds, Poomjai Garden also offers canal tours, tie-dye workshops, and garden walks.
