Escape Bangkok
5th Floor, Building B, EmQuartier, 693 Sukhumvit Rd, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110
Escape Bangkok punches above its shopping-mall address with serious credentials: The Mall Group ownership, a multi-zone layout built around a downtown beach-club concept, and a food menu that stretches from Shells by The Oyster Bar to Beef Cheek Massaman. Cocktails open around 300 THB and the Peri-Peri Prawns at 290 THB are the starter worth ordering twice. Built for the after-work crowd who want a proper view without a hotel markup.
You walk out of the EmQuartier elevator on the fifth floor and the city noise drops away as a beach-club sprawl opens in front of you. Escape Bangkok is owned by The Mall Group and launched in 2018 as one of Bangkok's first mall rooftops, pioneering a format that has since found plenty of imitators but few equals in the Phrom Phong corridor. The space is divided into four zones, each with its own rhythm. A beer bar and tapas corner handles the first drink with low ceremony. The central white bar places you close enough to watch every cocktail being assembled. An indoor air-conditioned section handles private gatherings and the weather-nervous crowd. The alfresco balcony sofa corner, furnished with pieces imported from Bali and Morocco, is where the sunset goes when it wants an audience. The food menu is anchored by a partnership with The Oyster Bar, meaning shells and caviar arrive on their own dedicated section of the menu. From there the kitchen covers Burrata, Bruschette, Lemongrass Prawns, Salt and Pepper Squid, crab sliders, a Seafood Marinara pasta, and high-end Thai riffs including the Wagyu Beef Krapraw and Beef Cheek Massaman. Desserts run to Creme Brulee, White Chocolate Panna Cotta, and Tiramisu. It is a shareable, social format rather than a destination-dining one, which suits the room perfectly. Signature cocktails include the Escape Margarita, Bangkok Mule, Sailor on Wrath, Flora Wind, and the Ha Long Dream. Cocktails sit around 300 to 380 THB, comfortably below what the hotel rooftops charge, which is part of why the room fills on a Tuesday. Entertainment rotates between resident DJs and live bands, and the venue hosts themed events and product launches in the indoor zone. Reach it via BTS Phrom Phong and take the elevator straight to the fifth floor.
