G's is a one-of-a-kind Silom Soi 4 institution: a German restaurant with genuine crossover credibility, run by owner Guido for over a decade. G's occupies a corner of Silom Soi 4 in Bang Rak that few German restaurants anywhere in Asia could match for character. German owner Guido has built a loyal following around an extensive menu that refuses to choose between two culinary traditions, producing a dining room where sauerkraut and som tam share equal standing on the table.

The German side of the menu is the draw for most regulars. Jaeger Schnitzel - a battered and fried slab of pork or chicken covered in mushroom gravy and best ordered with sauerkraut and spaetzle - is the signature dish. Thursdays offer 40 percent off all schnitzel orders, making it the busiest night of the week. Fleischpflanzerl delivers three medallions of spiced ground beef with pommes frites and curry sauce. Flammkuchen, the Alsatian flatbread, comes in bacon-and-onion or vegetarian versions with olives and chillies. Frittierter Camembert pairs fried camembert cheese with lingonberry jam and sliced bread. Sauerkraut Pfannchen, three sausages in a hot pan alongside generous kraut, works well as a lighter plate. Kaiserschmarrn closes the meal with a bread-like dessert topped in rum raisin sauce, powdered sugar, whipped cream, chocolate, and cherries.

Guido's crossover section merges German wurst with Thai cooking. Red and green curry wurst, made with kiow wan (green) and red curry bases, represent the kitchen's most personal creations. Traditional Thai options including shrimp cakes, moo dat deow, chicken satay, spring rolls, and Thai curries with adjustable spice levels and a vegetarian version are also on the menu.

The beer programme is among Bangkok's most curated: Guido stocks German draught taps including Schneider Weisse and Oktoberfest seasonal beers, alongside a rotating fridge of European craft bottles that regulars call genuinely rare for the city.
