AVANI Riverside Bangkok Charoen Nakhon Rd, Khwaeng Samre, Thon Buri, Bangkok 10600

Rated 4.6/5 from 1554 Google reviews.

Sit on the Thonburi side and the Bangkok skyline becomes the show, which is the entire reason this rooftop exists on this bank of the river. Take the free Avani shuttle boat from Saphan Taksin, eat downstairs on 26, then move up to Attitude on 27 for the after-dinner round. Order the tomahawk if you are four.

You step out of the lift on the 26th floor of Avani+ Riverside Bangkok and the entire eastern Bangkok skyline is laid out in front of you across the Chao Phraya. That orientation is the whole point. Most Bangkok rooftops sit on the city-centre side and look at each other; SEEN sits in Thonburi and looks back at the city.

The concept is Olivier da Costa's, a Portuguese chef-restaurateur who runs a group of venues back home and brought his hedonist playbook here. The day-to-day kitchen runs under Executive Chef Alexandre Castaldi, whose CV includes Michelin-starred kitchens in Paris and senior posts across Asia. The menu reads as a global epicurean tour, with artisanal tapas, a working sushi bar, a truffled lobster salad that comes back across the press coverage as a signature, and prime tomahawk steaks for the four-and-up tables.

The physical room runs across two levels. Restaurant on 26. Attitude Bar one floor up on 27, smaller, club-leaning, late-night.

Getting here is the catch and the perk: cross-river. The Avani runs its own complimentary shuttle boat from Saphan Taksin BTS pier, which is the fastest way in and the most enjoyable approach. Driving in evening traffic on the Thonburi side is the slow option.

Reserve a Chao Phraya-side table for dinner. The tomahawk is built for groups; come with at least three other people if you want it as the centre of the meal. Stay for sunset, move upstairs after.
