SOOKSIAM is the most ambitious celebration of Thai regional identity in any Bangkok shopping destination. The indoor floating-market concept brings together rare provincial dishes, artisan crafts, folk performances, and rotating vendor stalls in a format that rewards repeat visits. For anyone serious about understanding Thai culture and cuisine beyond Bangkok, this floor inside ICONSIAM is the logical starting point.

SOOKSIAM occupies the ground floor of ICONSIAM, the riverside landmark development on Charoen Nakhon Road in Khlong San, on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. The concept was developed as a curated cultural village representing all 77 provinces of Thailand, bringing regional food, artisan products, folk arts, and local wisdom traditions into a single air-conditioned destination.

The physical design takes its cues from traditional Thai market and riverside community architecture. Vendors operate from stalls and shophouses styled after regional building traditions, and the layout is deliberately wandering rather than linear, encouraging discovery. The result is an indoor recreation of a Thai floating market with the comfort of year-round climate control.

Food is one of SOOKSIAM's strongest draws. Regional cuisines that are genuinely difficult to find in Bangkok are represented here, from the fermented fish-based dishes of the northeast to the coconut-rich curries of the south and the herb-forward preparations of the north. A rotating vendor model means the selection changes through the year, giving repeat visitors new dishes to try on each visit.

Craft and product shopping is equally extensive. Handwoven silk and cotton textiles, hand-painted ceramics, natural herbal products, traditional instruments, and basketry from across Thailand's regions are available from artisan vendors who often demonstrate their techniques live. Shoppers can watch weaving, pottery, and lacquerware production in progress and purchase directly from the makers.

Live folk performances and seasonal cultural festivals are staged regularly within the space, adding animation and sound to what would otherwise be purely a retail and dining destination. The festive calendar follows Thai agricultural and regional traditions, offering a rotating cultural programme throughout the year.

ICONSIAM is reached by BTS Gold Line from Krung Thon Buri station on the Silom Line, alighting at Charoen Nakhon station (also signposted as ICONSIAM station), which connects via elevated walkway directly to the mall. River access via the Supatra Boat shuttle service from Sathorn/Saphan Taksin pier provides an alternative route with a scenic Chao Phraya crossing.
