Mazzaro Boutique and Restaurant
11/2 Charoen Krung 42/1 Alley, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500
Mazzaro began in 2008 as the culinary arm of a family boutique, and Chef Pin Rompho Phothisoontorn, who trained at Le Cordon Bleu after a design degree, has kept it evolving ever since. The Thai-Italian kitchen is the formula: Tom Yum Pizza with mozzarella and king prawns, slow-cooked porkchop in green curry sauce, carbonara, and classic stir-fries all share the same menu. A beverage list curated by Thailand's Best Sommelier 2015 supports the range.
Mazzaro Boutique and Restaurant opened in 2008 on Charoen Krung Soi 42/1, growing out of Mazzaro Boutique, the fashion business run by founder Jutarat Phothisoontorn. The restaurant occupies the same soi as the entrance to the Shangri-La Hotel and is five minutes on foot from BTS Saphan Taksin, placing it in one of Bangkok's oldest and most characterful riverside neighborhoods.
The kitchen runs under Chef Pin, Rompho Phothisoontorn, who holds a product design degree from Rangsit University and continued his culinary education at the Le Cordon Bleu Institute. His menu concept, described on the official site as 'Where East meets West,' fuses Italian technique and ingredients with Thai flavors, drawing on secret recipes inherited from his grandmother, Pharmacist Churat Phothisoontorn.
The Thai-Italian combinations on the menu are genuine rather than novelty. Tom Yum Pizza, priced at 360 THB, uses a base of tom yum curry paste cooked with cream, topped with large prawns and mozzarella. Porkchop with Green Curry, also 360 THB, applies slow-cooking to pork and finishes it with a dense green curry sauce. On the Italian side, carbonara, pastas, and the Ultimate Tiramisu at 220 THB with Amaretto-soaked sponge are consistent sellers. The menu also carries Thai standards including stir-fries and salads.
The beverage program was curated by Thanakorn Sae-ung, winner of Thailand's Best Sommelier 2015, covering fine liquors from multiple countries, house cocktails from Mazzaro's in-house mixologist, and a wine list built across price points.
Chef Pin designed the interior as a relaxed dining environment combining tones of wood, leather, and marble across several distinct seating corners, giving guests flexibility for everything from a solo lunch to a group dinner. The restaurant is open every day from 10:00 to 23:00 with last orders at 22:30.
