Build the table around the crab. Order one chilli crab and one black pepper crab between four people so you get both signatures, add the mantou buns to mop up the chilli sauce, and bring the salted-egg prawns in as the second protein. Lead with the seafood, then settle in for the river view. Bibs are not optional.

You walk into Jumbo's Bangkok room and the first thing you see is the live tank wall: crabs, lobsters and prawns, the same Singapore-style live-product display that has anchored the chain since the original Singapore branch opened in 1987. The Bangkok branch is the first to bring this format to Thailand, and the riverside placement inside ICONSIAM means the dining room runs along the Chao Phraya rather than facing a mall corridor.

The headline order is the chilli crab. The sauce is sweet, tomato-based, with a slow chilli build, and the kitchen sends it with mantou buns to scoop the gravy. Black pepper crab is the alternative signature: drier, pepper-forward, more savoury, the order you make if you want to taste the crab itself rather than the sauce around it. Salted-egg prawns and mocha pork ribs round out the must-orders.

The live tanks are the menu.

Service runs at the pace a Singapore-export kitchen sets. Staff are happy to walk you through how to crack the chilli crab without losing meat into the sauce, the rice arrives in steady refills, and fresh bibs land without making a thing of it. English is fluent at the floor level. River-facing tables sit along the outer edge of The Veranda zone.

Booking goes through the venue's own website or via phone on +66 99 110 5888. The kitchen closes for last orders at 9:30 PM, so the latest sensible arrival is around 8.
