Training in Bangkok

Bangkok has a deeper fitness market than most cities its size, partly because of the traditional Muay Thai infrastructure and partly because the expat and office population sustains a large boutique-studio scene. Our directory holds 672 fitness venues, ranked by review count.

Where the gyms are

Watthana district carries by far the most, covering Sukhumvit from Asok through Phrom Phong, Thong Lo, and Ekkamai. Khlong Toei and Pathum Wan around Siam follow. Bang Rak, Sathon, Huai Khwang, Phaya Thai, and Ratchathewi each hold a solid cluster. Outside the central corridor the density drops quickly, so if you live further out, check what is actually near you before assuming the city-wide picture applies.

Browse by discipline

This category is broad on purpose. If you already know what you want to train, the dedicated pages are far more useful than filtering this list:

  • Muay Thai. Around 90 gyms and camps, from tourist-friendly classes to fighter-track training.
  • Pilates. Over 100 studios, heavily concentrated in the Sukhumvit corridor. Reformer and mat.
  • Yoga. Around 60 venues, from dedicated studios to yoga programs inside larger clubs.
  • Rock climbing. 15 indoor walls, small enough that one page holds the entire scene.

What to check

  • Equipment versus classes. A gym marketing itself on group classes may have a thin free-weight area, and the reverse is just as common.
  • Air conditioning. Not universal, particularly at traditional Muay Thai gyms. It changes the session completely.
  • Peak hours. Central Bangkok gyms fill hard between 18:00 and 20:00 on weekdays.
  • Trial session. Most studios run one. Take it before buying a package.

Ratings and review counts on each listing come from public listing data and reflect what visitors reported. We do not verify or adjust them.

Frequently asked questions

What kinds of venues are in this category?

Everything from full-equipment commercial gyms to single-discipline studios. Our data covers roughly 110 venues with gym in the name, over 100 Pilates studios, around 90 Muay Thai gyms, close to 60 yoga venues, plus CrossFit boxes, climbing walls, and personal-training studios. The topic pages linked below split the biggest of these out.

Which Bangkok areas have the most gyms?

Watthana leads by a wide margin along the Sukhumvit corridor, followed by Khlong Toei and Pathum Wan around Siam. Bang Rak, Sathon, Huai Khwang, Phaya Thai, and Ratchathewi each carry a meaningful cluster. Condo gyms are not listed here, which is worth remembering if you already have one in your building.

How much does a gym membership cost in Bangkok?

It varies enormously and we do not publish prices, because gym pricing in Bangkok changes constantly and is often negotiated at the desk. Chain gyms, boutique studios, and traditional Muay Thai camps sit at very different levels. Ask the venue directly and ask what the joining fee is, not just the monthly rate.

Can I train without a long contract?

Often yes. Drop-in rates and class packs are widespread, especially at Muay Thai gyms, Pilates and yoga studios, and climbing walls. Large chain gyms lean harder on annual contracts. Terms are set by each venue and change, so confirm before you sign anything.
